A real session, recorded

This is what an AI-run game looks like

The artificial blue light of the corridor casts long, harsh shadows against the vault door. Your fingers tremble slightly as you input the final command, overriding the security protocols that keep this orbital casino’s wealth locked away.

> I signal the crew that the vault window starts at shift change, then quietly ask the pit boss which guards are on the late rotation.

You tap your comms, a sharp two-pulse signal alerting the crew in the vents that the vault is live, then turn toward Varkas.

> When the vault opens, I tell the crew to take the cash but leave the black data case, because the owner asked me to make sure it stays.

The heavy seal hisses and slides open, revealing the cold, sterile glow of the vault interior. You murmur the instructions into your comms, confirming the target: take the credits, but leave the obsidian-cased drive untouched. Varkas shifts his weight, his eyes narrowing as he watches the security monitor, though he seems oblivious to the specific order you've just given. The clock ticks down, the weight of the owner's demand pressing against your ribs.

Recorded on 2026-10-14 on the free-tier model: a fresh account, the first line "a heist: I am the inside person at an orbital casino, the vault opens for six minutes at shift change, and my crew does not know I owe the casino owner a favor", then the two actions above typed in. The AI named the story "Heist of the Orbital Vault". The debt to the casino owner, set in the first line and kept from the crew, follows the player into the vault: the crew takes the credits, the drive stays, and the owner's demand is still in the scene. The Game Master's lines are cut to their first sentences here; the whole exchange, every word, is published as a JSON file.

"AI browser games" covers two different things: games that were made with AI, and games where an AI runs the game while you play. The first kind is a normal little game whose art or code an AI helped produce; once it is built, it plays the same way every time. The second kind has no fixed script at all. You type what you do, and the AI decides what happens, plays every other character and keeps the world consistent as it goes.

Auferet is the second kind, and it runs entirely in the browser. That means no download and no account setup beyond a sign-in, and a game that can go anywhere you take it. The hard part for any AI-run game is memory: if the AI forgets what you did an hour ago, the game stops making sense, so that is the part Auferet is built around.

Why memory decides it

An AI game falls apart when the AI forgets

Most AI games feed the model one fixed window of recent text each turn. That works for a short scene, but once a game outgrows the window the oldest details fall out: the deal you made, the item you picked up, the character you crossed. The game keeps going confidently, just inconsistently, and that is the moment it stops feeling like a game.

That is measurable, so we measured it. Five facts were planted in the first turns of a story on the free model and asked about at turn 20, 40 and 60: once with only recent conversation to read, the way most AI games work, and once with persistent memory, the way Auferet works.

Asked atRecent conversation onlyPersistent memory
Turn 203 of 5 facts5 of 5 facts
Turn 401 of 5 facts5 of 5 facts
Turn 601 of 5 facts5 of 5 facts

Run on 2026-08-22 and again on 2026-08-27: both runs fell to 1 of 5 by turn 40 on recent conversation and held 5 of 5 with memory. Every question and raw answer is in the result file; the method is on the benchmark page, and how the memory works explains what it stores.

FAQ

AI browser games, answered

Are there free AI games I can play in my browser?

Yes. Auferet runs in any browser with no download, and it is free, with 10 daily credits to claim and the full memory system on the free tier. Unlimited actions start at $10/mo.

What is an AI browser game?

Either a game made with the help of AI, which then plays the same way every time, or a game where an AI runs the game live while you play. Auferet is the second kind: you type what you do and the AI decides what happens.

What kinds of games can I play?

Story games in any genre, simulations like a war or a whole life, classic-style text adventures and text RPGs, tabletop rules modes with character sheets and dice, ready-made worlds from the library, and multiplayer scenes with friends.

Does the AI remember what happened?

That is what Auferet is built for. It keeps characters, places and events in dedicated libraries and can search the whole story, so what you did early in a game still matters later.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Auferet has multiplayer: one player hosts, friends join, and everyone plays their own character in the same story, each with their own Game Master.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Auferet runs in the browser on any phone, and there is an Android app if you want it on your home screen.

Pick a game. The AI runs the rest.
